Titan Comics has just hit the two-year mark of publishing Conan the Barbarian comics. So far, they’ve been pretty good, offering different types of stories that scratch that itch for fans new and old. The publisher will be kicking off year three with a big event, titled “Scourge of the Serpent”, that sees our hero face the serpent god Set.

Make sure you don’t miss out on an issue with the Conan the Barbarian: Scourge of the Serpent reading order checklist. It lists all the comics you need to read, plus other handy details to make reading simple.

Background reading

Are you looking to do some background reading before diving into Scourge of the Serpent? Here’s what I recommend.

Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #17-24
Written by Jim Zub. Art by Danica Brine, Doug Braithwaite, and Fernando Dagnino.

The build up for Scourge of the Serpent begins with Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #17. The hints to the story are more subtle in the beginning but become more obvious from issue #21 onwards.

These comics will be reprinted in the following collections:

  • Conan the Barbarian Volume 5: Twisted Loyalties (Collects: Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #17-20)
  • Conan the Barbarian Volume 6: A Nest of Serpents (Collects: Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #21-24) [Available 6th January, 2026]

Solomon Kane: The Serpent Ring #1-4
Written and art by Patrick Zircher.

Conan isn’t the only Robert E. Howard character that Titan Comics has published. This recent Solomon Kane story tells a serpent-themed story, with allusions to Scourge of the Serpent but can also be read on its own.

After Scourge of the Serpent

Wondering what to read after Scourge of the Serpent? Here are a couple recommendations.

Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #25
Written by Jim Zub. Art by Alex Horley and Fernando Dagnino.
Available 8th October.

While Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) built up to Scourge of the Serpent, it doesn’t directly tie into it during the miniseries’ publication like you would see in a Marvel or DC comic. Instead, this 25th issue is a standalone story that’s a good jumping-on point for new and lapsed readers.

Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #26
Written by Jim Zub. Art by Fernando Dagnino.
Available 12th November.

Conan the Barbarian (2023 series) #26 is another great jumping on point for the series. This kicks off The Conquering Crown storyline.
