As a new or lapsed reader, it can feel intimidating to jump into DC Comics. With decades of material and dozens of ongoing stories happening at any given time, it can be confusing for those looking from the outside in. DC has acknowledged that and is creating a massive jumping-on point for everyone with the All In publishing initiative, which will kick off brand new stories, splinters off a new universe, and start a larger meta-narrative told over the next few years.
Find out everything you need to know about All In with this extensive guide. It will explain what it is, what comics are part of it, and more. It’s the perfect companion to kick-start your DC Comics reading.
Updating…
DC Comics’ All In publishing initiative is only just getting started! While there have been a lot of comics announced as part of it, which you can see below, there’s likely many more to come. As a result, this guide will be treated as a living document that will be updated regularly. I highly recommend you bookmark this page and return to it every few weeks if you want to follow all the details.

What is All In?
All In is an upcoming DC Comics publishing initiative that begans in October 2024.
This publishing initiative focuses on creating the best jumping-on points for existing, new, and lapsed readers. There will be new comics, jumping-on points for the current series, and the genesis of a splintered-off universe that gives readers radical interpretations of classic characters.
In the mainstream DC Universe, every comic will be a jumping-on point. Some existing comics will continue but will have new creative teams or kick-off new stories that you can jump onto. Additionally, new comic series will cover characters that may not have had a comic in a while. Co-architect Scott Snyder has mentioned that “All In is about inviting everybody in – the existing creators, some new creators, everything – to tell their best stories, and to begin them all at one point.”
All In will also create the Absolute Universe, an alternate universe that features reinterpreted versions of DC’s heroes. This line of comics will be DC Comics’ equivalent to Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. These characters will be familiar but different, with fresh interpretations and origins. These versions of the characters have more of an underdog status, having to rise to the occasion with less resources and experience.
In the YouTube announcement, Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder stressed that All In is not a reboot, retcon, or event. Instead, it’s a publishing initiative that signifies the direction of DC Comics. The history of the characters and recent events will still be intact – with All In being instigated by the Absolute Power comic book event. However, there’s an emphasis on new stories and a much larger meta-narrative that will be told over the next few years.
All In kicks off in October with the All In Special #1 (see more details about this in the next section), with new series and jumping-on points launching in the same month and beyond.

It all begins with the DC All In Special
All In kicks off with a special one-shot. This sets up stories that are part of the publishing initiative, both in the mainstream DC Universe and the Absolute Universe.
DC All In Special #1 is a 64-page flipbook, with each side focused on a different perspective.
One half – written by Joshua Williamson and art by Daniel Sampere – will be told through the lens of Superman. The Man of Steel has rallied an army to face a recently returned Darkseid. The confrontation will send ripples through the mainstream DC Universe and be felt across many of DC’s comics.
The other half – penned by Scott Snyder and drawn by Wes Craig – focuses on Darkseid. This will detail the creation of the Absolute Universe and give us the first glimpse of the characters that inhabit that world.

Two universes, one meta-narrative
DC All In Special #1 will also kickstart a much larger meta-narrative.
The core DC Universe and Absolute Universe will be siloed in their approach. However, both will contribute to a much larger meta-narrative for DC Comics’ line of comics. It’s too early to see how each universe will develop the larger line-wide story. Each universe may develop independently, with it converging much later down the line.
What we do know, though, is that it will involve Darkseid. Scott Snyder mentioned that one of the missions of All In is to put Darkseid back at the top of DC Comics’ villains.
At the same time, it will be a slow burn with the meta-narrative touching and developing throughout various DC Comics over the next few years.
Where can I find out more about the Absolute Universe?
Due to it being in its own corner of the DC Multiverse, there’s a separate Absolute Universe guide. This explains the nature of this universe, the titles and creators involved, and other details.
What comics are part of All In?
Find out all the titles that DC Comics has announced as part of the All In publishing initiative. More will be added as the publisher reveals more details over the coming months and well into 2025.
Note: The Absolute Universe titles are listed in its own guide. Check out our guide to find out more.
