DC Pride 2023

DC Comics is back with another 104-page anthology. This year’s edition contains ten new stories featuring a variety of characters, such as the high-profile couple of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy to the recently introduced Xanthe Zhou from Spirit World. One of those stories will be a preview of the upcoming Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story graphic novel by actor Nicole Maines, who portrayed the character in the Arrowverse; Rye Hickman, Bex Glendining, and Rusty Gladd.

Along with the stories, DC Pride 2023 will also include an introduction by artist/writer; pin-ups by artists Angel Solorzano, Noah Dao, Babs Tarr, Maria Llovet, Brandt & Stein, Claire Roe with Triona Farrell, Travis Moore with Tamra Bonvillain; and a special tribute to Rachel Pollack, who sadly passed away earlier this year, by Neil Gaiman, Tom Peyer, Jadzia Axelrod, and others.

Over on the Marvel side, the publisher will release several Pride-themed variants that will be seen in several comicsincluding Star Wars, in June.

DC will also release Pride-themed variants but they’ll go the extra mile with other Pride-themed releases. The first is The DC Book of Pride, a hardcover guidebook on more than 50 LGBTQIA+ characters, published in conjunction with DK.

The other release is DC Pride: Through the Years, a collection of milestone issues from DC’s publication history. These include The Flash (1987 series) #53, where ex-villain Pied Piper comes out; Detective Comics #854, the first solo Batwoman story; and Supergirl (2026 series) #19, which introduces nonbinary character, Lee Serrano.
