Back in 2016, comic book publisher Boom Studios launched their line of Power Rangers comics. They mixed classic concepts from the first season with plenty of new ideas to create stories that fans new and old have been clamouring for.
With a bunch of different comics available and the occasional crossover, it’s not always clear as to where they all fit in with one another. Luckily, there’s this mighty reading order to help make sense if everything.
Read on to find out what you need to know about the Power Rangers comics.
Which comics are part of this reading order?
While Power Rangers comics have been published by many different companies over the years, this list primarily focuses on the ones by Boom Studios.
Why? This is because they are the current home of the comics, they have the most cohesive story, and the ones that are the most freely available.
October 2023 update: Boom Studios will begin to reprint material from other publishers. I have created section at the bottom of this guide covering these reprints.
How are the comics different from one another?
Similar to the TV show, where there are distinct versions of the rangers, the comics have established a multiverse where different teams can exist. The main title, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (MMPR), focuses on a modern interpretation of the original line-up. While the secondary title, Go Go Power Rangers (GGPR), focuses on the original team that’s rooted in the 90s.
Apart from a few instances where they crossover with each other, they tell separate stories and can be read independently. (The reading order will explain when the titles crossover)
Where can I find Power Rangers comics?
Power Rangers comics can be found in all good comic book stores, online stores, eBay, and Amaonz/Kindle.

From November 2020, Boom Studios is relaunching the Power Rangers comics as two concurrent series – Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers. Mighty Morphin will focus on a cast that’s closer to season 2 of the show. Power Rangers will focus on the original line-up, now known as the Omega Rangers.
As they’re so new, it’s not known at the moment how much these two comics will intertwine with each other. I’ll update this section once we get a better picture of what’s going on.

Who are your favourite Power Rangers? Let me know in the comments below or via Facebook or Twitter.
As a reader of this series I do thank you for providing the reading order. I do want to note that some of the scenes of GGPR volume 3 can be found in Power Rangers Pink. Also you should add the third volume of Recharged to the list. For unlimited power the reading order should be modified to reflect the legendary numbering.
Where does power rangers: universe fit within the volume reading order?
Hey Mitchell, thanks for pointing out Power Rangers Universe. The reading order has been updated to include it in the list of collections.
They really don’t. I held off on buying the GGPR because of the mistake, and now GGPR vol 3 is expensive, thankfully the 2 deluxe hardcover volumes, of GGPR, has all the issues of GGPR, I just have to jump around a bit.
I ordered Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid because you said it was
\”Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25-32, Go Go Power Rangers #9-12, MMPR Annual 2018, MMPR Free Comic Book Day, and Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Finale.\”
but MMPR: Shattered Grid (TPB) is MMPR vol. 7 & 8 (MMPR #25-30, MMPR FCBD 2018 & MMPR Shattered Grid #1)
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid Deluxe Edition is
MMPR # 24-30, MMPR FCBD 2018, GGPR #9-12 & MMPR Shattered Grid #1 & Exclusive Story: \”A Promise to Keep\” it is also in the correct reading order.
Unless I\’m missing a third version of Shattered Grid, or something, this needs updating.
Other than that, great work.
Hi David, thanks for pointing this out. The Shattered Grid trade paperback listings have been updated to be clearer. Boom Studios doesn’t make it easy for readers!
Hello! Thank you for the great information here. Where would you say the six issues of Power Rangers Universe belong? TIA
Hello I notice thank you for adding it!
I love how you make this but i can find the Power Rangers Countdown to Ruin can you please add it?
Hi Sheena, Countdown to Ruin has now been added to the reading order.
Thanks you so much for this list this help me a lot.
But i can’t find Power Rangers Unlimited – Countdown to Ruin 001 (2022). Where is this comics on the list? please!!
Hey Arnaud, It’s great to hear that you have found it helpful. Countdown to Ruin has now been added to the list.
First off this list was incredibly helpful and has made for a very fun read through so far (I am just finishing up Shattered Grid)! Will the upcoming Power Rangers Universe book he a tie in to the Might Morphin and Power Rangers series, or is it a standalone story?
Go Go Power Rangers is it’s own continuity??? I thought it was just set before Tommy became the green ranger?
Hey so is there a power rangers lost chronicles vol
3? I’ve read 1-2
It’s my understanding from reading both series that MMPR and GGPR are in the same universe, just different points in time. In the beginning, GGPR takes place in the Ranger’s early days before the Green Ranger comes, while MMPR takes place right after Rita’s spell was broken and Tommy joins the team. After Shattered Grid, there is a time jump for both with MMPR starting up with Tommy as the White Ranger and Rocky, Aisha & Adam as Rangers. GGPR picks up in the final days of the Green Ranger and pretty much leads all the way to where MMPR just started with the White Ranger and new Red, Yellow & Black Rangers. So they are definitely connected!
When it comes to the new series, Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers, the reading order DOES matter at first. Read Mighty Morphin #1 followed by Power Rangers #1 and then continue on as you like. These series’ do branch out on their own but not until AFTER this. Be warned, the #2s may contain spoilers if not read in this order.
Question, you said that MMPR and GGPR are in separate universes and don’t relate to each other until shattered grid but when I click on the link for the tweet you’re referencing it says they are in the same universe it’s just GGPR takes place before MMPR which makes sense since Ranger Slayer Kim shoots Tommy with the arrow that comes into play when drakkon stabs and “Kills” Tommy. If they were separated then her doing that wouldn’t have meant anything to for the MMPR comics
Thank you so much for this! I love reading these. This list makes returning to reading them after a while much easier.
Why you didn’t mention anything about mighty morphing Rise of Drakkon? what’s the order for that one? or can i read that one whenever i want ? i’m confused.
All of the issues that Rise of Drakkon collects are available in other collections.
Thank you so much for this list. The only comic that I believe is missing from this amazing and detailed chronological list (again, thank you!) is the Free Comic Book Day Road to Ranger Slayers issue.
Thanks again,
JP
You say ggpr is set in the 90s but Kim has a smartphone in issue 1. Am I missing something?
