For almost 50 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, writer Nick Spencer has been building up a villain known as Kindred. He’s been lurking in the background, making Spidey’s life a living hell, by bringing back long-forgotten villains and throwing him through the ringer with all kinds of challenges. But Kindred is done with playing in the shadows and has decided to make his presence know to our favourite web-slinger.

What does Kindred have planned? You’ll have to read the Last Remains storyline in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man to find out!

Last Remains has weird numbering. So you don’t miss out on any of the web-slinging action, I have put together the Amazing Spider-Man: Last Remains Reading Order. It has the recommended reading order, an explanation of the numbering, and much more.

Background Reading

Looking to do some background reading before you dive into Last Remains? I recommend checking out the following comics.

Amazing Spider (2018 series) #1-49*

If you want to know more about what Kindred has been doing to Spider-Man then you will want to go back and check out Nick Spencer’s run on Amazing Spider-Man. Like I said in the introduction, he has been lurking in the background making life for Spider-Man a living hell. While none of these issues reveal who he is, some of the stories start to drop hints.

These are issues are collected in the following trade paperbacks:

  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 1: Back To Basics
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 2: Friends And Foes
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 3: Lifetime Achievement
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 4: Hunted
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 5: Behind The Scenes
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 6: Absolute Carnage
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 7: 2099
  • Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer Volume 8: Threats & Manaces

What Are The .LR Issues?

As you browse the reading order below, you might be wondering what the deal is with the issues which end in “.LR”. These comics are tie-ins to the main story, which focus what is going on with other spider-adjacent characters at the same time. Similar to what they did with Amazing Spider-Man: Hunted, Marvel has attached the “.LR” at the end so you know that it is part of the Last Remains story.

It’s up to you if you want to read these tie-ins. They expand the story with different characters but you will get a full story if you just read the regular Amazing Spider-Man issues too.

  • The numbering is definitely confusing! That said, I’m only cherry picking the issues with an interesting cover &/or solid creative team. ( Hint: not picking up the companion books with the L.R. indicator affixed to the corner box).

Having read select issues of Last Remains thus far, the storyline is average & mediocre at best. Would hope future issues would reveal a more interesting build up to the Kindred at some point.
