WOLVERINE IS DEAD! Well not quite yet, but he will be soon. After losing his healing factor earlier in the year Wolverine can now be killed and by the conclusion of The Death of Wolverine miniseries, he will be dead. That’s the premise behind The Death of Wolverine, written by Charles Soule and art by Steve McNiven, running weekly throughout September.
But just because Wolverine is dead doesn’t mean that the Wolverine related comics will end. In the aftermath of his death, there will be a handful of miniseries, tie-ins and one-shots spinning out of his death. Many will show how those close to Wolverine will act to the news of his death, while others deal with the fallout.
Due to the sheer number of comics under the Death of Wolverine banner I have created a Death of Wolverine Reading Order Checklist so you can make sense and keep track of all of the releases. As an added bonus I have added the release dates for each issue, along with the creative teams.

Love the work and list. Just wish it was easier to print as a “checklist” :-/
I used a Firefox extension called “Printer Friendly & PDF” to get what I wanted π
Wolverine Volume Five #5β13
Wolverine Volume Six #1β7
Wolverine Volume Six: Three Months to Die #8β12
Wolverine Annual #1
How would these be put into order for the lead in, I know these are in publication order, but I would love to read the entire run up to the Wolverines.
I think that would they would be the best to lead into The Death of Wolverine.
Sorry for the confusion in regards to the comment not showing straight away. I have it set that I have to approve them. It’s mostly to stop spam and trolls. But now you have been approved you shouldn’t have this problem.
I believe the ending should be Weapon X 5 and then Logan Legacy 7 – followed by The Wolverines. Tells you at the end of Weapon X 5. π Cheers!
I believe you should swap Logan Legacy #7 to last and Weapon X #5 right before. Story jumps back into the present in Logan Legacy 7 (plus it tells you the order at the end of Weapon X 5. After Logan Legacy 7 starts The Wolverines – Thanks for putting together the list nonetheless.
Do you know by any chance if there are any crossover issues that have happened in the time SINCE November with storm #5? …….or do you know if it will be concluding with the final interspersed Logan Legacy & Weapon X issues?
Just want to say thanks for this awesome checklist. I’ve used it to navigate the whole ‘event.’
Thanks for another great list… compiling many events thanks to your help!
I have the same question as Ghozt above here, Are these listed in the order that they are supposed to be read in or just by the date they are being released?
So far the Wiki lists the following titles for lead in/ background issues:
Wolverine Vol 5 #5-7
Wolverine Vol 6 #1-7
Wolverine Three Months to Die #8-12
Wolverine Annual #1
Hope that may help a bit.
They are ordered by date. The Death of Wolverine should be read first. Then any one-shot, tie-in or miniseries can be read in any order. I say this as Marvel have been releasing them all around the same time. So i would say they are sequels of the the DoW mini than of each other.
Hey, you have missed out Black Widow #11 as one of the Aftermath!
Thanks for letting me know! Don’t know how I missed that one. I’ll make sure it gets add to the list.
Thanks for putting together this list, so far you’re the only person that I have seen online putting together this list. I like to read my comics in events just makes for a bigger and clearer picture imo. I agree with Vision007’s thought regarding the comics leading into this event would be much appreciated! Will you be ordering the comics as they are meant to be read or just the date they are being released? Thanks again for the info! It really is quite helpful!
Thanks for the checklist. I have read the first 2 issues of the Death of Wolverine and it’s so far been a good ride. It’ll be sad to see Logan no longer in the print for a while. π
Yeah, it will. But I am sure we will see him again soon.
sorry for the noob question I was wondering when it says Nightcrawler #7 do i have to read the previous issues or i can just buy that one?
I think in this instance you probably won’t have to as it will focus more on how Wolverine’s death has effected Nightcrawler. If there is any threads from the previous issue then they shouldn’t be too difficult to pickup on. Plus, Marvel hasa recap page that lets you you know what has happened previously to get you up to speed.
What about any comics leading up to the main story line, i.e. giving a background how his healing factor was lost? Ty
That’s a great idea. I will update this with some of those soon π
Too many for my budget π only the main series will i read. Thanks for the details.
That’s fair enough. The main series looks like it should stand alone quite nicely.
