Avengers & X-Men: AXIS Reading Order Checklist

By 17 Comments

Back in Uncanny Avengers #1 The Red Skull stole the brain of the recently deceased Professor X, implanted it into his head and his used the psychic abilities to transmit hate against the mutant race. While a team of Avengers and X-Men were able to stop him and he hasn’t really been since. While it has only been hinted at, The Red Skull will return bigger and more powerful than before in Avengers & X-Men: AXIS, Marvel’s next big event. Said to have a huge cast of heroes and villains, Avengers & X-Men: AXIS will also see some heroes will become villains and vice versa. Overall, Marvel has promised that the effects of this event will be long-lasting.

Avengers & X-Men: AXIS

While Avengers & X-Men: AXIS is primarily 9 issues, there are also a sea of tie-ins. Some will be mini-series, others will be special issues from ongoing titles. Not every ongoing title will be involved, just mostly those staring characters who are directly involved in the AXIS.

With the number of tie-ins that are involved it can be very difficult to keep up with them all – even for a seasoned reader like myself. So in order to make things as simple as possible, I have made the Avengers & X-Men: AXIS reading order checklist. This checklist includes all the releases that will be involved in this Marvel event, along with all the dates of release and the creative teams involved.

Avengers & X-Men: AXIS kicks off in October, but in September there will be a handful of tie-ins branded “The Road to AXIS.” This will act as preludes that set up plot threads for the primary issues. Wile they are not essential reading they will probably give further context to the story. Additionally, most of the tie-ins are not essential reading and you should be fine reading the major 9 issue on its own. BUT, if you want to know what is happening with a certain character or what is happening at the same time the tie-ins are worth checking out.

Additionally, I have included Superior Iron Man #1 to the list as while it is not a tie-in to AXIS it seems that the series will be spin out what has happened in the event.

This will be updated as more information is revealed.
