Some serious kung-fu action bursts onto the racks this week with the release of Iron fist: The Living Weapon #1. Written and drawn by filmmaker Kaare Andrews, this new series will depict Danny Rand in a more vengeful manner – a characteristic that is in line with the character when he emerged in the 1970s.

Iron Fist: The Living Weapon takes the character back to his origins, filled with blood-soaked vengeance and betrayal. These themes will also create a sort of identity crisis for him as he struggles to come to terms with who he is, versus how he perceives himself. Marvel has been light on the plot specifics, but it is known that it will focus solely on Danny Rand/Iron Fist, meaning that this series will be paving its own path in the Marvel universe. And if the preview below is anything to go on, the Iron Fist: The Living Weapon will feature some big action that can only be done in the medium of comics.
If you are not familiar with the character then you don’t have to worry as Kaare Andrews has stated, in an interview with USA Today, that the series “will reinvest you in a character you already love or introduce you to a character you haven’t met.” Additionally, if you are not familiar with Iron Fist’s origin, that will be explained too.
If you are a fan of kung-fu movies, martial arts or over the top action then Iron Fist: The Living Weapon is a series that should be on your radar. This is also a perfect series to read if you are looking forward to the upcoming Iron Fist television series that will début on Netflix later in the year.
Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #1 is available in all good comic book stores and digitally from April 9th.
Take a look at the variant covers by Dale Keown, Mike del Mundo and Skottie Young as well as a four-page preview of this issue below.
