SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) is now over and has left plenty of news to discuss. From TV to big Hollywood blockbusters, here are my top 8 film and TV related news pieces from SDCC in no particular order.
Superman/Batman
Two of DC Comics biggest heroes will be teaming up to save the world. At the moment I think this is a safer option than a Justice League movie for a variety of reasons. Henry Cavill is back to play superman but who will be Batman? I guess we will have to wait.
Speaking of waiting, we will have to wait until 2015 to see the film. If you can’t wait then check out the Batman/Superman comic series.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Also coming out in 2015 is Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron was a bit of a surprise as it was thought that Thanos would be the villain – based on the ending of the first film. Joss Whedon has stated that it wont be based on the recent Age of Ultron miniseries, which is probably a good thing as that mini-series was not well received by fans. He also stated that Hank Pym (creator of Ultron) will not be in the movie, although it will be interesting to see if Ultron will appear in Ant-Man first.
News of Godzilla footage
While the footage hasn’t hit the Internet I excited to hear that footage exists. What I am even more exited about is that it has been well received. From accounts I have heard the scale of Godzilla himself will be huge, which is always a plus. It has also been described that tonally this film will be closer to that of the 1954 original, which I am totally fine with.
Clone being developed for TV by NBC
Clone is an interesting series from Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint that has been optioned for TV by NBC. Created by David Schulner and illustrated by Juan Jose Ryp and Felix Serrano Clone is sci-fi/thriller about a man who find out there are hundreds of clones of himself. With a premise like that it would be interesting to see where a serialised TV show could go.
Issue 9 of the Clone comics series is out next week.
Partial reveal of the Sentinels for X-Men: Days of Future Past
At SDCC we got our first look at the Sentinels that will feature in X-Men: Days of Future Past. While it was only a head, the model that was created looks pretty accurate to one of the current depictions. It will be interesting what the whole Sentinel will look like and the actual size of it.
Arrow Season 2 Sizzle Reel
CW teased season 2 at SDCC and it is looking to be a pretty big season. Not only is there big action there will be the long awaited introduction of Black Canary. It was also hinted that Oliver Queen will go by the name “Green Arrow” instead of “The Vigilante” which will please plenty of comics fans.
You can take a look at the sizzle reel below…
Lots of Amazing Spider-Man 2 News
At SDCC there was plenty Amazing Spider-Man 2 news. First of all there will be plenty of villains with The Rhino, Electro and Green Goblin all making an appearance in the film. Mary Jane was going to be in this film but has been pushed to the third. She was also going to say the famous line “face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot.”
There are also rumours that the Sinister Six could appear in the film. Marc Webb this to say about the rumour…
I’m a fan of The Sinister Six. I’ll say that. I think if you pay attention to the second movie, you’ll see hints of what’s to come.
That definitly sounds like there maybe hints to it in the second film with the team to be established in the third.
Tom Hiddleston addresses SDCC as Loki
This was great. I could describe this to you but you are better off watching the footage for greater effect.
