Hawkeye has been a series that has not been shy in taking different approaches to story telling and this upcoming issue is no different with Hawkeye #11 being told through a dog’s perspective. Pizza Dog, Hawkeye’s dog, takes the reigns of this issue as he discovers a dead body in the apartment building and goes out of his way to find out who did it.
Generally Hawkeye concerns what Clint Barton does when he is not with the Avengers, but by having Pizza Dog centric issue writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja are able to create a different approach to the series. Looking at the preview below you can see the different storytelling elements that allow for readers to be in Pizza Dog’s skin and almost experience what the world is like through a dog. I think of the use of icons to display the dog’s though process and the way the selective text in word balloons is rather clever and hopefully we can expect to additional clever uses of storytelling.
Hawkeye #11 will be out on the 26th of June in all good comic book stores and digitally.
You can see a preview for Pizza Dog’s first solo adventure below as well as the great cover by David Aja.
