“THERE’S SOMETHING DOWN THERE…”
The Wake is a new horror/sci-fi series from the mind of Scott Snyder (Batman, Severed and American Vampire) and the artistic talents of Sean Murphy (Joe the Barbarian and Punk Rock Jesus), out this week on Vertigo Comics. The limited series sees Marine Biologist Lee Archer approached The Department of Homeland Security for help for a threat that she is not allowed to refuse. Wisked off to a secret underwater oil rig in the Arctic Circle, they discover something that is truly terrifying.
With inspiration clearly by John Carpenter’s The Thing and Aliens The Wake is set to be a claustrophobic read of isolation and underwater terror. If that is not enough, Sean Murphy’s art is set to look as amazing as all his previous work, of which I am a big fan.
The Wake #1 (of #10) is out on the 29th of May in all good comic book stores and digitally through Comixology.
Check out the cover by Sean Murphy, variant cover by Andy Kubert as well a 4 pages of preview.
Available from August 28th there will be a Director’s Cut edition detailing the pencils, a copy of the script and character designs.
