Created by Don Garvey and Mike Connelly, Hurry: Adventures of the Rabbitoid Knight #1 is a science fiction comic, suitable for all ages. The comic tells the story of Hurry, a Rabbitoid Knight and his trusty starship Ollie, as they seek to find and contain the last Cray, alien lobster-like creatures, in the known universe.
Hurry: Adventures of the Rabbitoid Knight #1 is a great introduction to this science-fiction world, with the issue introducing the reader to all the concepts needed. The reader is also introduced to the protagonists of the series, Hurry and Ollie, through diagrams that allows the reader to get quick details. This will allow for the story to continue without having to stop and explain characters or concepts.
Being guided-view native allows the issue to use some interesting transitions and story telling techniques. It is used best to give the effect that time is passing. One example of this is in a busy city scene where the foreground stays the same but the background changes, giving the reader a sense of the hustle and bustle of the city as well as time progression.
Overall, the issue is a fun little book that introduces the reader to the world. The book also uses the guided-view aspect of digital comics to its advantage to create some interesting storytelling techniques.
In total, Hurry: Adventures of the Rabbitoid Knight will be a 3 part series, with the second issue due soon and the third available in early 2014.
